October 3-6, 2022 CET/SAT
The first LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum will be held both physically in Pretoria, South Africa, and online on October 3-6, 2022.
About the LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum
The LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum is an event organised every second year to enrich the LEAP-RE Community. It aims to create and expand an international multi-stakeholder community dealing with renewable energy, science-based policymaking, funding and research, innovation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, in Africa and Europe. Its objectives are also to identify, design, and implement the services and functions of LEAP-RE and to foster collaboration between similar initiatives.
This first edition aims to build, animate, and network the LEAP-RE community and stakeholders by offering an opportunity for knowledge sharing and a space for meetings and exchanges. It will serve as a means for supporting the scientific, innovation, and capacity building activities of the LEAP-RE programme and its projects.
Programme
The Forum will gather stakeholders from both the African Union and the European Union to discuss research and innovation topics related to renewable energy, as well as AU-EU cooperation. This high level meeting will convene researchers and representatives from the projects funded and developed within the LEAP-RE programme, the members of the LEAP-RE Scientific and Ethical advisory boards, representatives of related initiatives, students, etc.
In particular the Forum will:
- Host the kick-off of the 13 projects selected for funding by LEAP-RE (LEAP-RE Pillar 1)
- Present the first results from the projects developed within LEAP-RE (LEAP-RE Pillar 2)
- Initiate the co-development of a long-term AU-EU platform for the multilateral AU-EU cooperation through workshops and other activities (LEAP-RE Pillar 3)
- Host a Renewable Energy School (RESchool) for students
- Provide clustering and networking activities
Location
The Forum will take place in Pretoria, South Africa. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the associated health issues and travel restrictions, it will also be possible to join the meeting online.
