LEDSOL: Off-the-grid clean water based on solar power

One of the 13 projects funded under the first LEAP-RE call of projects, LEDSOL consists of five consortium partners from Romania, Algeria, Togo, Finland and Germany, and seeks to provide off-the-grid clean water by using a smart portable unit based on UV/LEAD disinfection.

About LEDSOL

The initial design of the disinfection solution has been proposed and partially manufactured. The LEDSOL portable unit will reach suburban areas in Algeria (e.g., Blida, Tipaza), nomads of the Sahara and Togo’s rural areas.

First Scientific Presentations

The project has already produced an article from presenting at the 15th annual International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI 2022), “Fostering Transnational Research, Innovation and Education through an International Europe and Africa Collaboration Project”. The project also presented a poster during the annual seminar of the DEVELOP academy programme, which took place in Helsinki, on 27 October 2022.

The LEAP-RE consortium gathers 83 African and European partners covering a wide range of sectors: education/research, private sector, policy and funding. Together, they are building a long-term partnership of African and European stakeholders committed to fostering research and innovation for the development of renewable energy.
