LEAP-RE to hold its first Stakeholder Forum in Pretoria in October 2022

The first LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum will be held both physically and virtually on October 3-7, 2022. The Forum will take place in Pretoria, South Africa. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the associated health issues and travel restrictions, it will also be possible to join the meeting online.

About the LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum

The LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum is an event organised every second year to enrich the LEAP-RE Community. It aims to create and expand an international multi-stakeholder community dealing with renewable energy, science-based policymaking, funding and research, innovation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, in Africa and Europe. Its objectives are also to identify, design, and implement the services and functions of LEAP-RE and to foster collaboration between similar initiatives.

Building and animating the LEAP-RE Community

This first edition aims to build, animate, and network the LEAP-RE community and stakeholders by offering an opportunity for knowledge sharing and a space for meetings and exchanges. It will serve as a means for supporting the scientific, innovation, and capacity building activities of the LEAP-RE programme and its projects.

In particular the Forum will be the opportunity to:

  • Organise a high-level meeting on renewable energy
  • Convene the members of the LEAP-RE Scientific and Ethical advisory boards
  • Hold a joint kick-off of the projects funded in Pillar 1
  • Present of the first results from the Pillar 2 projects
  • Provide dedicated services to participants and initiate the co-development of a long-term AU-EU platform for the multilateral AU-EU cooperation through workshops and other activities

More information, including the detailed programme and event guidelines will be provided soon.

The LEAP-RE consortium gathers 83 African and European partners covering a wide range of sectors: education/research, private sector, policy and funding. Together, they are building a long-term partnership of African and European stakeholders committed to fostering research and innovation for the development of renewable energy.
