MG-FARM identified existing business models with farms having partial or no RE equipment at RIMSAR, OUADIN, BLFARM (Morocco) and BELAIDOUNI (Algeria) farms.

A new pilot farm has been implemented at Cherchell, CDER–UDES, Algeria. The objective of the UDES pilot farm is to develop an optimize supplying of the major of agriculture activities, using PV Solar energy production, energy storage, water managements, in accordance with best agricultural practices, and to integrate new business opportunities. Using digitized microgrids and smart storage systems in this pilot farm, that will be a reference for farmers that will use this solution. It provides general information on the agricultural sector and a demonstrator for Algerian farmers, including new methods of consumption and storage of water and energy.

160 m2 greenhouse, 13kW PV, 300m3 geomembrane pool, water tanks and control room at UDES pilot farm.
Models are being developed, for instance; the batteries (physical and aging) for simulation and to design the battery systems. A tool to accurately predict the battery performances is now established.
The project started the acquisition of the equipment (UL-GREEN, UL-LEMTA) to build the experimental benches for PhD studies.
MG-FARM 1st annual meeting was held on June 19th-21st 2023 in Marrakech and discussed the advances, future collaborative work and also visit Morocco pilot farms and GEP facilities.
