PYROBIOFUEL : Partners meeting in Cairo University, Egypt

The PyroBioFuel partners met in Cairo University, Giza, Egypt on the 9th and 10th of November 2022 to discuss the progress of the project. PyroBioFuel aims to support decentralised, sustainable, and cost-efficient conversion of biomass to sustainable fuels, relevant to both Europe and Africa. 

The main objective of this PyroBioFuel meeting was for all partners to get an overview of the project development, discuss project achievements up to that date and establish their work plan for the coming months, and therefore, ensuring that all partners had a common understanding of their upcoming steps in the project.   

Partners discussed the development of the experimental setup and the equipment required for the bench scale pyrolysis and the production of biofuels. They also discussed topics related to the upgrading and valorisation of pyrolysis products, validation demonstrator, mathematical modelling, and optimisation and analysis of the pyrolysis to fuel conversion process. Moreover, the team considered the importance of the techno-economic and environmental (LCA) studies.
